There is a ton of false information out there regarding having a career coach. With so many myths, it’s understandable why some people may be on the fence about hiring a career coach. Some people think career coaches are superheroes and miracle workers and when they find out they are not, they may think “Why hire a career coach, if I have to do the work myself?” Well, let’s debunk a lot of those myths so that you can understand why you should hire a career coach right away to help you land your dream job. 

The career coach does all the work. 

Wrong. The career coach is there to guide and teach you how to get results but you have to put in the work yourself. You are not only paying a monetary investment, but also an investment of your time.  Without your time and effort, things cannot progress. A career coach can show you how to upgrade your resume, but you still have to find and apply for the jobs. A career coach can give you the tools to have a killer interview, but you’ve got to prepare and learn those tools so that you can in fact have a killer interview (and show up on time and well-dressed). 

After one session with a career coach, I’ll get the results I need.

Wrong. You will not achieve long-term growth after just one session with a career coach. In today’s world, everyone wants a quick fix, life-hack or fast result, but the truth is, that’s just unrealistic. Anyone who’s telling you that you can make real change overnight in your career is misleading you. Landing your dream job is not just a destination, it’s a journey. It will require multiple sessions to do the mindset work, and training necessary to get the results you want.

A career coach helps you throughout the entire process of career clarity and job search strategy and provides the proper resources and guidance to get you there FASTER.
